Re-making the Global Image

The old Photo is actually of me Grandmother and is almost 100 years before the second photo of a friend. I selected these 2 as I think the message is still the same, Look I was here! this is what both wanted to convey, the friend then posted it on Face Book. So has the purpose of the photo changed in 100 years or just the format?

I selected these 3 photos as the first 2 come from advertising campaigns I have shot, with a purpose to create desire. In doing so do they lead to the issue of the last photo, shot yesterday. Typical weekend traffic in the Alps.

Although Hayden did the geological survey it was commissioned and was related to the railway and lead to the Yellowstone National park. But was it the Photos from Jackson and Ansel which created the desire to visit the location. They have over 4 million visitors a year now days, has the selfie also contributed to these numbers?  I would ask by Photographing a place to show its beauty do we actually contribute to it’s eventual demise?
